BiographyCarol Gundy Guskey was born in Cokeville, Pennsylvania and grew up in Pittsburgh. She studied at the University of Pittsburgh and Michigan State University before moving to Ohio, where she enrolled at the Columbus College of Art and Design and worked as a graphic artist for the State of Ohio. She later relocated with her family to Switzerland, where she learned stone lithography techniques at the Allgemaine Gewerbe Schule Basel. Other techniques Guskey explored early on included etching and silverpoint drawing. Guskey’s career was shaped by various subsequent moves, which included living in Austin, Minnesota; New Jersey; and Milwaulkee, Wisconsin before settling in Lansing, where she remains today. Aside from portraiture, Guskey also paints still life, wildlife, and children. Her work is featured in the permanent collections of the Oshkosh Public Museum, the Wisconsin Arts Board, the West Bend Gallery of Fine Art, and the Ingham Medical Center, among other institutions. Upon her return to Michigan, Guskey exhibited extensively, including at the Michigan Watercolor Society’s show at the Detroit Institute of Arts.
